CutTime Quote / for small machine shops

How much room is left in that quote?

Keep your setup, cycle and cost-rate assumptions in one worksheet. Compare three quantities, then check how much extra time an offered price can absorb at your chosen margin.

The price changes.
The assumptions get lost.

A customer asks for 25, 50 and 200 pieces. You re-enter the quantity, copy a price, then work backward from their counteroffer to find the time allowance.

CutTime keeps the fixed costs, per-piece costs, separate rates and source notes with that comparison. If the process or an outside supplier's lot minimum changes, make a new revision rather than pretending the same cost basis still applies.

One cost basis.
Three price options.

  1. Record the inputs. Setup and programming at separate cost rates; fixture costs; material, machine cycle, inspection, outside processing and consumables.
  2. Check the offer. See target price, payable total, offered-price margin and conditional setup OR cycle headroom.
  3. Keep two records. Save the private assumptions as JSON, CSV or a printable report. Send a separate customer price document without internal cost fields.

Blank inputs block results. Explicit zeros need an explanation. You supply every estimate and rate; the app supplies no recommended shop rate or cycle prediction.

before buying.

The fixed synthetic example uses $320 of batch costs and $20.50 per piece, including machine and inspection time at different rates. At 50 pieces, modeled cost is $1,345 and a 25% target margin gives a payable unit price of $35.87.

The $1,793.50 total uses that whole-cent price. The offered $40 price is a separate scenario; its headroom is not a second amount added to your quote.

Will this fit
your quoting work?

Why pay when free calculators exist?

SWARF's free quote calculator plus your own notes can calculate margin and batch-cost recovery. A spreadsheet can do this whole job too. CutTime puts separate cost categories, three quantities, reverse-solved time headroom and two export audiences into one local worksheet. If your existing sheet already does that well, keep using it.

Will it estimate machining time or ensure profit?

No. You enter time and cost assumptions. It does not parse CAD, predict feeds, speeds, yield, capacity or delivery, replace an ERP, or guarantee a profitable job. Review inputs against your own shop records.

Where does my quote data go?

The worksheet processes it in your active browser tab, with no analytics, server uploads or automatic storage. Export before closing. Files are unencrypted and may contain confidential information. Clear does not erase previous downloads or device backups.

What do I receive?

An editable browser worksheet, a synthetic worked example, private JSON backup/restore, internal CSV and HTML, customer HTML, separate print views and a self-contained offline HTML app. Use a modern JavaScript-enabled browser; Chromium was tested. Access uses an opaque buyer link, not an account or authenticated vault.
