When notes, filenames and costs live in separate places, rebuilding a report means checking the same details again. A sorted list can also hide a missing time. Keep the uncertainty beside the record that needs attention.

The Reference-to-Report workflow handles ordering, reference checks and arithmetic. It does not rewrite observations or create facts.
- Record the original wording. Separate observation from reported information. Leave unknown dates or times blank.
- Link a stable reference. Add a label and optional filename. Original files remain in your existing evidence system.
- Reconcile entered costs. Enter distance and your rate, then itemized expenses in one currency. See the multiplication and line rounding.
- Review before you export. Read the preview and unresolved items, then print or save a PDF. Export a full-case JSON backup to resume later.

The demo uses fictional records only: 12.5 miles × an illustrative rate of 0.67 rounds to 8.38. Add a 5.00 expense and the entered total is 13.38 USD. The rate is sample data, not a tax or reimbursement allowance.

Why not use Word or a spreadsheet?
If your current template is enough, keep it. CaseThread PI adds stable time ordering, missing-reference checks, decimal cost arithmetic and a repeatable report layout without configuring a full case-management system. It does not replace source handling or your professional judgement.
What stays on my device?
The buyer app keeps one case in the active tab, with no automatic browser storage or case-data upload. A single HTML copy works offline. Reloading, closing or crashing can lose unsaved work. You must deliberately export an editable JSON backup.
Local processing is not a confidentiality guarantee. The app does not encrypt downloaded files. Use managed encrypted storage and access controls. Avoid shared devices and cloud-synced or public Downloads. Aliases and free text may still identify people.
Does it import evidence or certify a report?
No. It accepts manually entered text and its own JSON backups, not photos, receipts or media. There is no AI, EXIF extraction, GPS, acquisition, source authentication or legal conclusion. Reference IDs do not establish chain of custody. Preserve originals and verify the report under your own professional process.
What are the limits?
A modern JavaScript-enabled browser; one case, one distance unit and one supported currency at a time. Up to 200 rows per section, 4000 characters per note and 1 MiB per JSON file. Direct distance entry only. No team account, portal, automatic backups, attachments or selective redaction. Full-case backups include every row.
Use only with lawful authority and already-lawfully-held records. A licence does not establish every assignment's legality. Not for employment or tenant screening or consumer background-report delivery.
What if it is not right for me?
The hub's 30-day full-refund policy applies. Request within 30 days at [email protected] with your checkout email and receipt reference. No proof of a financial result is required. Refunds return via Stripe to the original payment method; bank processing times vary. Mandatory consumer rights are unchanged.
